Here are my notes for my video section of info on Forums and Yahoo Answers:

Building links through forums and yahoo answers is one of the best ways to build credibility in your niche while also driving traffic to your site. Here is how to do it:

Yahoo Answers: If you don't know already, Yahoo Answers is a part of the Yahoo website where people from around the world go to ask and answer questions about anything and everything you could ever think of. Used properly it's a great way to drive traffic to your site. Used improperly it is a quick way to get yourself banned from Yahoo.

Follow these key points for success:

- Log into your account or start an account if you don't have one
- Go to an area of YA that corresponds with your blog.
- Look for questions that you could answer.
- Answer the question and then leave a link to your site under the 'What's Your Source'.
- Make sure that the page you are linking to actually corresponds with the question. If not, people will flag your post.
- If possible link to internal pages of your site. Search engines like to see links going to all parts of your site, not just the home page.
- Do not put a link in every question you answer. If you do people will notice and will report you. Instead, go to YA with the idea of contributing and helping people and drop your link every 5th time or so. In other posts make sure to drop links of other resources that you have no relation to so that people don't see you as coming on and being a self promoter.
- YA gets ranked very highly in all the search engines and people are likely to come across your link by searching YA but they will also come across it by typing questions into google or other search engines.

Forum posting can be much trickier. If you make a mistake or two it is very possible that you get kicked out for good. Here are tips for posting on forums:
- Do a google search of forums in your specific niche or area of interest.
- When you find the forum do a quick check to make sure it is an active forum and people are actually posting there. Do this by looking at the amount of posts in the different categories.
- VERY IMPORTANT. Go read the rules that all forums have! The idea of forums is to get a group of like minded individuals together to help each other out. If it is evident that you are only there to self promote you will get banned so quickly.
- Forums you are looking for are the ones where you are allowed to post your link in your signature line and are heavily active. If you leave your link on a certain forum that doesn't mean that you should immediately dismiss that forum, but you may want to consider looking for another forum.
- Forums will have different rules for posting links in your signature line. Some forums allow you to do it right away, others require you to do a certain amount of posts before you can post a link. Whatever you do, follow the rule. When you are allowed to post your signature do so by going into your member profile and adding it.
- Use a keyword as your anchor text in the link in your signature.
- Contribute, contribute, contribute. Get in there and add value to the forum. The more people see that happening the more they will pay attention to the link in your signature. It also builds a great deal of credibility in your niche.
- The idea behind forum posting is to drive targeted traffic because this is your target audience, but it is also a great way for search engines to see lots of incoming links coming in from important sites.
